I'm constantly amazed at the simplicity of the design and quality of the components that went into these old machines. There is no comparison with today's machines! Modern technology may be able to provide more functions at a lower cost, BUT just looking at these 50 year old components says a lot about how American manufacturers felt about lasting quality. These chargers were expensive, so they built them to last! And last it has.....this one still functions!

Phister 3 1/2 Gallon Fire Extinguisher
This is one of the most amazing pieces you'll see all day! It's an original Phister No. 3 1/2 from 1923 to 1931. The patents were granted to Albert B. Phister, who assigned them to the Phister Manfacturing Co. of Cincinnati. From the 1920s through the '40s, many fire extinguishers were filled with carbon tetrachloride. It can quickly put out a liquid or electrical fire, but by the 1950s scientists figured out that the chemical's fumes can be fatal if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Therefore, this type of extinguisher was no longer made.
This vintage extinguisher is in excellent condition. The wheeled carriage is completely intact with no dents or dings. The hose is still pliable and un-cracked. The label is clear and bright.
